Jeep Uconnect Apple Carplay Upgrade. If your vehicle has a uconnect 4 system that supports apple carplay or android auto, you can access features by connecting your smartphone to the usb port. I have a 2015 challenger and it is my understanding that adding apple carplay is a hardware problem not just a software upgrade.
Assuming that is true, i just found that several vendors (one is carlinkit) on amazon are selling usb dongles they say will allow you to add it to my older head unit.
Alpine do a fab kit that will let you keep all the menu settings / steering controls etc. I understand that this feature is on the latest uconnect version, 8.4. I have a 2018 jeep compass with just the base 5 screen, and wish i had the optional 7 screen with apple carplay.
